A simple YT to MP3 converter
YT to MP3 turns any YouTube video into an MP3 file you can keep on your phone or computer. Paste a link, pick the quality, and download. There is no app to install, no account to create and no limit on how many videos you convert.
It is handy for anything you would rather hear than watch: lectures and lessons, podcasts, interviews, speeches, audiobooks, talks you want to replay on a commute, or your own uploads that you want as an audio file.
128 kbps or 320 kbps: which should you pick?
Both options give you a standard MP3 that plays everywhere. The difference is file size and how much room the file has to keep detail.
| Video length | 128 kbps | 320 kbps |
|---|---|---|
| 3 minutes | about 3 MB | about 7 MB |
| 10 minutes | about 10 MB | about 24 MB |
| 1 hour | about 58 MB | about 144 MB |
Our honest advice: YouTube itself streams audio at roughly 128–160 kbps, so 320 kbps cannot add detail that the video never had. What it does is give the MP3 more room, so as little as possible is lost in the conversion.
- Choose 128 kbps for talks, lessons, podcasts and interviews, or when your phone is short on space. It sounds the same for speech and the file is less than half the size.
- Choose 320 kbps if you plan to edit the audio (every edit and re-save loses a little), or if you want the MP3 to stay as close as possible to YouTube's original. It won't sound better than the video itself — just as close to it as an MP3 can get.
YouTube Shorts to MP3
Shorts work exactly like normal videos:
- In the YouTube app, open the Short and tap Share → Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar — it looks like
youtube.com/shorts/…. - Paste it into the box above and choose the quality.
- Click Convert, then Download MP3.
Shorts are usually under a minute, so they are ready almost instantly.
Quick shortcut: watching a video or Short on a computer? In the address bar, replace youtube.com with yttomp3.app and press Enter — for example youtube.com/shorts/abc123 becomes yttomp3.app/shorts/abc123 — and the conversion starts on its own.
Convert on iPhone and iPad
- In the YouTube app, tap Share → Copy link under the video.
- Open YT to MP3 in Safari (or Chrome), paste the link and tap Convert.
- Keep the page open until Download MP3 appears, then tap it. If Safari asks, tap Download.
Where is the file? Open the Files app → Browse → Downloads (in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone). Tap the MP3 to play it — it keeps playing with the screen locked. To keep it somewhere else, touch and hold the file and choose Move.
If the download doesn't start, check Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads and make sure a download location is selected. For long videos, keep YT to MP3 on screen until the download button appears.
Convert on Android
- In the YouTube app, tap Share → Copy link.
- Open YT to MP3 in Chrome, Samsung Internet or any browser, paste the link and tap Convert.
- Tap Download MP3 when it is ready.
Where is the file? In the Download folder: open Files by Google (or My Files on Samsung) and tap Downloads. Tap the MP3 to play it.
Use it as a ringtone or alarm: for audio you own or have permission to use, open Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone (or Alarm sound), tap Add or +, and pick the MP3 from Downloads. The exact names differ a little between phone makers.
On Windows and Mac
Use any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The MP3 goes to your browser's Downloads folder.

Please use it responsibly
Videos on YouTube belong to the people who make them. Convert videos you uploaded yourself, videos that are clearly licensed for reuse (such as Creative Commons), or videos whose owner has given you permission — and keep the files for your own personal use. Don't share or sell converted files. Our guide Is it legal to convert YouTube to MP3? explains the basics in plain words.
Frequently asked questions
Is YT to MP3 free?
Yes. Converting YouTube videos to MP3 is completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on the number of videos.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
No. YT to MP3 works on any phone or computer without installing anything — no app, program, browser extension or APK — and you don't need an account.
Which quality should I choose: 128 or 320 kbps?
128 kbps is ideal for speech, podcasts and saving space (about 1 MB per minute). 320 kbps makes bigger files that stay as close as possible to YouTube's original — handy if you plan to edit the audio (about 2.4 MB per minute). It can't make a video sound better than it does on YouTube. See 128 kbps or 320 kbps for the full comparison.
Is the file really 320 kbps?
Yes. When you choose 320 kbps, the MP3 is saved at a constant 320 kbps. Keep in mind that YouTube's own audio is around 128–160 kbps, so the extra bitrate preserves detail rather than adding new detail.
Can I convert YouTube Shorts?
Yes. In the YouTube app tap Share → Copy link under the Short, then paste the link into the box. Shorts are usually ready in a second or two. More tips: YouTube Shorts to MP3.
How long can a video be?
Videos up to 6 hours long can be converted. Longer videos take a little longer, so keep the page open until the Download button appears.
Where do I find the MP3 after downloading?
Can I use the MP3 as a ringtone?
Yes, if you own the audio or have permission. On Android go to Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone, tap Add or +, and pick the MP3 from Downloads.
Why can't a video be converted?
Private, removed, age-restricted and members-only videos can't be converted, and neither can live streams that are still running. Videos blocked at the request of their owner can't be converted either.
Do you keep a copy of my files?
No. Your privacy matters to us — we don't store the files you convert.
Is it legal to convert YouTube videos to MP3?
It depends on the video and where you live. Converting your own videos, Creative Commons videos or videos you have permission for is generally fine; converting copyrighted videos without permission may not be. Always keep files for personal use. Read more in Is it legal to convert YouTube to MP3?
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac?
Yes, in any modern browser such as Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Samsung Internet.
